My Own Company

By Eva Porter and Joe Corbett

If you ever doubted me at all

If you couldn't wait to see me fall

You never thought I'd make much of myself

Baby, you should worry about yourself

I was so scared to be alone

Thought I couldn't make it on my own

But I like my own company

I know I can always count on me

I'm sure that it has come as a surprise

That I am getting on with my own life

Bet you thought that I'd give up by now

But happiness and strength found me somehow

I was so scared to be alone

Thought I couldn't make it on my own

But I like my own company

I know I can always count on me

And I know that I have been naïve

Trying hard to please and to believe

I'm not one for changing who I am

I’m going to trust myself now, that’s my plan

I was so scared to be alone

Thought I couldn't make it on my own

But I like my own company

I know I can always count on me
