The Heart Wants

By Eva Porter and Joe Corbett

The heart wants

What the heart wants

Desire triumphs over fear

The body longs

For what the body longs

And my body longs for you to be near

And if the mind knows right from wrong

My mind knows the sinner from the saint

But doubt holds me in its thrall

With decisions I don't know how to make

The heart wants

What the heart wants

And love will dry up bitter tears

And the soul soars

Above it all

She's saying "Take your time, my dear"

And if time shows me sympathy

Maybe I'll move forward, take that step

But life holds mysteries

That I am too frightened to accept

I’m torn by love and I’m torn by anger

And I don't know how to separate the two

I see your face in our children's eyes

And I think of when our love was pure and new

The heart wants

What the heart wants

Desire triumphs over fear

The body longs for what the body longs

And my body longs for you to be near
