Trapped in America

By Eva Porter and Joe Corbett

We’re all here, trapped in America

Friends together from back home

Life’s not the same here in America

Opportunity knocks but we’re alone

We’re watching our backs here in America

No Green Card to go explore

Safe in our culture bubble in America

                                                Looking around every door

And if I had a little space

To just run free for a while

I’d close my eyes and I’d see your face

And we could share a little time

But we’re all here, trapped in America

Although we made the choice to come

We’re loving life here in America

But it’s so long since we’ve seen home

And if I had a little space

To just run free for a while

I’d close my eyes and I’d see your face

And we could share a little time

But life goes on here in America

Life goes on back at home

We want to stay here in America

Trapped behind an open door

Life is sweet here in America

So bittersweet here in America
