        Recording the album
New album,
Heart On My Sleeve
12 tracks from Cork's
newest songwriter, Eva Corbett

It might seem strange that a mother of three, working in insurance, who had never done a gig, decided to record an album of her own songs but that's exactly what I did.

I have been writing songs since the age of twelve and have always had a passion for music but  I never had the confidence to take it further.

It was only when my then 6 year old son Amhlaoibh told me on a drive home one night after we had been singing along to a song I had written, that I should make a record that I decided to give it go.

I initially laughed off the suggestion that I could actually record an album but my son told me that I could be anything I wanted to be and I wanted to prove him right.

This has been an amazing journey, a steep but fun learning curve filled with fun and creativity.

18 months ago the journey from singing my songs to my children to sharing them on my album “Heart on my Sleeve” began in earnest.

It started with a phone call to my uncle and soon to be co-writer Joe Corbett. Over the next 18 months, we collaborated on the songs for the album, emailing & phoning each other regularly and meeting each other when we could, as Joe is based in London and I live in Cork.

Joe contacted his good friend Brian Connor, who signed on as producer and played piano & synth on the album. Brian then assembled an amazing team of musicians - Johnny Scott, guitarist, Rod Patterson, bassist and Danny Byrt, percussion. I could never have made this album without the help and talents of these wonderful individuals, all of whom came together in Sonas Studios, Glenflesk, Co. Kerry in December 2009.

For 3 days, Glenflesk was home away from home. We recorded the album in a little creative bubble in the Kerry mountains.  Tony O’Flaherty of Sonas Studios mixed the album and made the recording experience very easy going. Top that with Ruairi O’Flaherty’s expert mastering and I am very proud of what we all created in those 3 days in Kerry.
